Cornflake designs Rough Trade’s new flagship store.
Back in July 2007, the influential record shop, ‘Rough Trade’, opened its new 5,000 sq ft (music only) mega-store, just off Brick Lane in East London. Cornflake designed and installed what could easily be viewed as the best in-store music system anywhere in London or the UK. PMC donated more than 10 of their latest flat on-wall, Wafer speakers. These were set up around the shop - all driven by Flying Mole digital amplifiers. Naim also donated many high quality amplifiers and CD players, as well as almost a dozen 1210s from Technics. In certain areas of the store the level of sound quality was upgraded further by installing a pair of PMC’s award winning IB1 monitor speakers.
The store had its grand opening on the Wednesday 25th July 2007 with a host of musical talent performing live; this attracted some great press and news coverage.

Avi Active ADM9 Bookshelf Loudspeaker
£1000.00 (pair)
And now for something a little different!
Avi seem to have struck gold with their latest venture, the ADM9. A high quality active bookshelf speaker with built in 350watt amplifiers. Apart from the sheer power of these little speakers, they offer a very musical and airy sound from something so small - a common trait of Avi speakers.
Their party piece is that you need only a single source, analogue or digital, to get them running as they have both a preamplifier and DAC in built. This allows audio to be streamed from a PC or Mac directly via USB. Both inputs and volume are also controllable via a supplied remote control.
Available in a variety of finishes.

With IiPod mania bigger than ever, American company Sonos has introduced an impressive unit designed to wirelessly stream audio directly from a PC, MAC or stand alone hard disk drive via a simple home network. Overall, the Sonos system is a very decent sounding and enjoyable piece of equipment to use.

JVC HD100 HD Projector
£6000.00
New in this week at Cornflake, and on permanent demonstration, is JVC’s newest reference model projector, the HD100. Using the latest DiLA technology this attractive new unit gives exceptional picture quality, with both Full-HD content and low resolution terrestrial TV pictures.
As well as being able to handle full 1080p HD content at 1920x1080 native resolution like many other top end projectors on the market, this one also incorporates it’s own internal upscaler, allowing regular DVD and Sky pictures to be increased to that of HD quality.
The good news doesn’t stop there. If the £6000 price tag attached to one of these is a little over your budget, then JVC also offers another outstanding projector, the HD1. This incorporates much of the same technology as the HD100 and has similar attributes for around half the price.
When buying a projector of this quality, it is essential that it is set up properly. Our team of CEDIA registered installers have undertaken days of advanced training needed to do this.
Straight out of the box the picture is often adequate, but a great deal of knowledge is required to configure them as the manufacturer intended. This applies to most high end equipment of this type.

Philips Pronto 9600
£900.00 (plus programming)
Philips has recently introduced a new flagship learning remote the 9600. Unlike previously updated prontos, this one has gone through some big cosmetic changes as well as offering greater ease of use and better functionality. It also has 2-way control via RS232, allowing you to browse the contents of your music server in much the same way as an Ipod or Sonos system. Obviously, this has other benefits such as being able to detect if your system has responded to the commands it has been sent. It has hard buttons, a scroll wheel and touch screen capability.
A great design and a superb upgrade for anyone with an older Pronto
