Luxury Hotel | Smart Audio-Visual | Fibre Satellite and Aerial System

Our specialism in design and installing advanced audio-visual solutions in historically important listed buildings was of real benefit when working on this lavish luxury hotel project in Chelsea.

The Belmond Cadogan Hotel

The Brief

Having worked with the electrical contractor before, we were sub-contracted to install advanced audio-visual solutions for all front of house areas. Speakers were to be discreetly concealed within the fabric of the historic building in order to deliver background music and audio, while a new presentation and video distribution system was required for the function room. In addition, we were appointed to provide a Fibre IRS and Satellite system (FIRS).

The Project

Nestled between Knightsbridge and Chelsea, the Belmond Cadogan Hotel has a long history and a rich heritage. Built by the Cadogan family in 1887, it was originally four townhouses on Sloane Street and Pont Street built in the Queen Anne style, later converted into one property which became a hotel. In 1895, room 118 achieved notoriety as Oscar Wilde’s place of arrest in 1895, prior to being sent to Reading Gaol. The luxury hotel was fully refurbished over a five-year period from 2014, when a number of rooms were converted to create opulent suites in this stunning central London location.

We provided a single satellite dish and aerials array to cover the needs of the entire property. Our team also installed the sound systems for the front of house areas thus ensuring that mellow music is playing when guests arrive at the hotel. All speakers are carefully concealed in order to not interfere with the stunning interior design. All audio zones are controlled via a centrally managed system using a specially curated playlist and music sources that are specific to the hotel.

Our years of expertise working in a wide range of historic and listed ultra-prime residential properties enabled our installation teams to sympathetically conceal the specified audio products within the fabric of the Victorian building.

When the hotel re-opened, we were appointed to perform remedial works within certain guestrooms to assist the designers and the hotel to correct any sound resonance issues. In addition, we also presented a different upgraded TV solution for the bathrooms to ensure and enhance guest experience in every room.

FIRS and Audio Systems

We installed a Fibre IRS and satellite signal system (FIRS), thus providing a single satellite dish and aerials array to cover the needs of the entire property. The rest of our work consisted of installing background music systems throughout the front of house areas, which required a range of audio solutions to suit all design requirements, mostly incorporating invisible speakers from a range of different brands. These products were all specified upon tender by the main electrical contractor. All audio zones are controlled via a centrally managed system using a curated playlist and music sources specific to the hotel.

Our years of expertise working in a wide range of historic and listed prime residential properties enabled our installation teams to sympathetically conceal the specified audio products within the fabric of the Victorian building.

However, when the hotel reopened, there were some sound resonance issues with certain guestrooms and we were appointed to perform remedial works to assist the designers and the hotel to correct them as fast as possible. In addition, we also presented a different upgraded TV solution for the bathrooms in order to ensure an enhanced guest experience in every room.

Because the hotel had already re-opened, we ensured that all remedial works were undertaken with utmost sensitivity and we operated outside of service hours for FOH and executed as much of the rack-building and pre-programming works off-site altogether.
