Branded Residences | Serviced Apartments | Smart Climate Control | Smart Lighting | Smart Audio-Visual | Smart Electronic Curtains and Blinds| Full infrastructure
Having been commissioned by Hyde Park Residence, our brief was to create a ‘home-away-from-home’ lifestyle experience in 38 of its newly created serviced apartments across two properties on London’s Park Lane. Incorporating many of the smart home and audio-visual technologies we specialise in for projects in ultra-prime residential houses, we were also asked to supply a high-end video entry system and centralised international video sources that could be distributed to each apartment upon check-in. In addition, we were to devise a multilingual app for guests to use that conforms to HPR brand standards.
Our task was to design and implement a solution, which allowed for a very broad spectrum of TV services coupled with the minimum amount of technology installed in each apartment. This required the thorough development of a centralised distribution option, powered by enterprise-grade infrastructure. We also sourced and supplied multi-room audio, together with Aquavision TVs for the bathrooms.
This ensures that guests have access to TV channels in their own language when they arrive in their apartment. We created hotel-wide connectivity and WiFi, providing leased-line broadband services that communicate across both addresses. A full Building Management System (BMS) was also installed.
We removed antiquated wiring and obsolete technologies, including obsolete satellite dishes and aerials on the roof that needed replacing with a newer Fibre IRS system because there were guests staying in apartments that were not being refurbished, we also carefully managed our timeframes to ensure there was no disturbance to them, which had been communicated across all contractors and sub-contractors.
For each guest to have visibility of visitors, with control over visitor access to the property.
Intuitive and customisable scene-set lighting control for the simplest and most effective management of illumination within the apartment.
Cost-effective in-room heating and cooling controls with the ability to interface with the customised Building Management System (BMS). This was designed to both accommodate new and existing infrastructure.
Extensive motorised shading options to offer practical and decorative solutions. These include feature blinds and full blackout shading for bedrooms. All designed to minimise cleaning demands and resolve issues with windows in hard-to-reach areas.
Full distribution of UK, European and specific international channels from a centralised source at time of guest check-in, which could then be re-programmed upon check-out, without having to enter the property.
Intuitive and familiar control of audio throughout each apartment. Operated as if the guest were in their own home using their own personal devices.
Together with static on-wall controls, a multilingual graphic user interface was designed to work with a tablet of via an app on a mobile phone. This was developed specifically for Hyde Park Residence in collaboration with its marketing and graphic design teams to align with all digital content. Bespoke user features were also requested in accordance with HPR brand standards.
We setup a cloud-managed portal allowing off and on-site data management and connectivity throughout the buildings. Cornflake supplies extensive support including connectivity uptime and as part of our Service Level Agreement (SLA) we provide an on-site response within four hours of an issue being raised. This involves holding hot-swappable spare components and also designing the system with failover redundancy to ensure there is never any WiFi downtime.

“The ambition of Hyde Park Residence to create a 21st century home from home required a technology solution that had to be bespoke, cutting-edge and market-leading while adding simplicity of use and enhancing the guest experience. Most Smart Home providers in the market were shown to be too inflexible and prescriptive, but when we met Cornflake it was a breath of fresh air. Using robust industry- standard solutions and relying on their experience with UHNW individuals, Cornflake were able to design and implement a sophisticated but simple solution that met HPR’s demanding requirements. The solution has proved to be flexible, upgradable, and modular - and has been well received by our eclectic mix of guests. Visiting their outstanding show apartment was the best way to see for ourselves what we could have. Cornflake have provided excellent service from beginning the infrastructure, through creating the apartments, the post-project care and 24/7 helpline. They have taken a challenging journey with us and we regard them as our partners.”
